HELP: Can't burn layer 2 on both burners

vbimport

Hi,

I have a LG GH22NP20 and an older LG dual layer burner and when the burner switches to burn layer 2 it stops (50% of process)

Nero fails when it switches to 2nd layer

ImgBrn says “invalid address for write”

Here’s what happens

HELP!

Hi AlexFWD:

The only DL media recommended is Verbatim and you are using Ritek. I strongly believe your problem will go away after switching brands.

#3

Some people have had success using Ritek S04 dual layer disks. Many have not been so lucky.

First suggestion is to buy Verbatim dual layer disks. They are the only ones consistent enough to get recommended around here.

This log shows you burning at 2.4x. Have you tried one at 4x? Just curious.

With an LG I’d definitely use Verbatim DL as suggested. My LG’s at least tend to like the good stuff.

Other drives like Pioneer tend to be a little more forgiving with mediocre media.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

i dont know if im right or wrong but…

W 12:13:36 Drive E:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.
W 12:13:36 Drive F:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

if your hdd is in fat32… how can the burner success burning a second layer when it cannot handle more than 4GB?

for me i think the hdd wont be able to transfert data to the dvd burner to burn the second layer since the hdd is limit to 4Gb so it will stop sending data to the dvd when it reach is limit to 4GB so i think you wont be able to write dual layer dvd until you have a ntfs partition on one of your hard drive.

Wow thanks for the quick replies.

I have tried 2.4X, 4X and 6X.
When I first got the new drive, I successfully burned 8 DL-dvds in a row (TDK-Ritek?) and all of a sudden I cant get one to complete successfully. ( i didnt succeed with the memorex either)

Anyone looking for a spindle of abour 40 TDK and 10 Memorex DLs? :stuck_out_tongue:

ahh… i see i was wrong then  maybe it is because of media quality after all… maybe your burner dont like ritek after all and need to see verbatim or ty in is lens hehe =)

Well, I tried again with a memorex DVD-DL and it actually starts burning the 2nd layer for about 5 seconds and then copy speed goes down to zero and stops.

The 2nd layer starts at LBA: 2057072 to 4114143)

and the error starts at:

Failed to Write Sectors 2075024 - 2075055 - Reason: Write Error

so the burner actually writes from LBA 2057072 to 2075024 (about 18000 sectors) and takes a dump.

Answer: "I 12:16:53 Source File: -==//[BUILD IMAGE]/==-"
Besides, a ripping tool can automatically split larger files.

You still failed to follow the given advice: ONLY use Verbatim DL!
