Hi. I have a Lite-On 1693s and I can’t burn DVDs with it anymore. The firmware is KS0B and I’m using Windows XP MCE. I can burn CDs fine though and the drive can play DVDs too. I use Nero and DVD decrypter but they both don’t work. When I try burning, it would go to completion but when I put the DVDs back into the tray, it recoginze it as a blank disk. It is as though no data was written on the DVDs even though the programs said it did. I then check the back of the DVD and I see that no data is written on it. I searched the forums and check to see that DMA is enable and I am using Microsoft IDE drivers but it still doesn’t work. Does anybody know what’s wrong with the burner? Maybe it’s dead?
Could you post a log from DVDD or Nero?
Here’s a log from DVD Decryptor.

You are burning too close to the edge of the disc, reduce your target size in DVD Shrink/Recode to 4300 to avoid the edge of the disc.
What brand media is this? I might suggest something of a little better quality, as I suspect these of being dodgy.
DVD Decrypter while still an excellent ripper, especially when used with RitIt4Me…it’s burn engine can be found updated in Imgburn. Imgburn is another freebie from LUK and is the second generation of the burn engine from DVDD and is still seeing support.
I’d definitely change that media. Try something like Verbatim.
