I'll start of by stating that I am by no means a computer wiz, so my apologies in advance. Here's the deal: I'm running veritas recordnow software for burning on an IBM desktop. When I go to burn a cd, it's telling me no compatible devices can be found on my system. When I go into the device manager I see a yellow (!) next to both drives and under properties it tells me "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I've tried the following:
1. uninstall the drives and reboot to re-install and they do not install properly
2. download the drivers. when i open the driver file, it can't detect a drive!
3. boot in safe mode, uninstall drives, then reboot normally. Still nothing.
It seems to be a closed loop....my computer tells me it can't load the driver and when i try to load the driver, it tells me no drive is detected. I've tried scouring the forums to prevent a repeat question, but the fixes I have seen haven't worked. Any ideas? Thanks for the support.
