BENQ DW1620 “OEM” flash to “RETAIL” firmware

step1: ( G7K9 -> DW1600 firmware )
http://planet.time.net.my/KLCC/yangxi/B5G9.zip

step2: ( dw1600 -> 1620 )
http://support.benq.com/files/storage/Firm…0-1620_B7K9.zip

step3: ( latest dw1620 firmware)
http://support.benq.com/files/storage/Firm…DW1620/B7L9.zip

Please explain. I now have an OEM DW1620.0C3 with firmware G7K9 and I tried to update to G7L9. It did not work. Benq sent me a G7L9.cvt file and G7L9.zip file. I do not understand what they expect me to do without a flash program for the .cvt file. Also you do not explain how you cross flashed. You and I do not have a DW1600, we have DW1620’s. What gives???

OMG it worked perfect, 1st flash reboot windows reconized it as BENQ 1600
2nd flash reboot windows says now BENQ 1620 B7K9
3rd flash reboot windows now says BENQ 1620 B7L9

Perfect cross EXCELLENT JOB :slight_smile:

Thanks very much yangxi, I converted to DW1600 first, then to DW1620, and finally updated to B7L9 firmware without any problems at all. I followed your 3 downloads. For anyone out there with a G firmware I advise you to follow yangxi instructions to turn your burner into a true BenQ DW1620 using B firmware.

The above links don’t all work, here is a link to original thread.

It worked for me too.
Now I have a proper BenQ drive :wink:

BTW I haven’t yet set my region code. The progs I use in linux didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Should I set it or can I just use it without setting it yet?
