Help Ahead engineers - does DVD media have a maximum number of writable tracks?

Hello,

I’m using Nero SDK 6.3.1.18 in a C++ application and am running into a serious burn failure problem with DVD-R and DVD+R media. Specifically, I was using Sony DVD-R media in a Sony DVD RW DW-U18A recorder and had written data 146-MB in size (60 files) over and over (i.e., track-by-track). Once I reached a little over 70% full, I encounter the BURN_FAILED error after the NeroBurn() call with the following entries in the Nero log. The disc is no longer writable, though I can read from it. I think the entries of note in the log below are:

Depending if it’s CD or DVD the max track number is different.
For DVD+RW and DVD-RW Nero appends the files at the end of the track an updates/overwrites the appropriate file system information so that there is always one track on a DVD+RW/-RW.
The max track count for CD (CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW) is 99. The only thing which may happen is that after writing few tracks the free capacity on the disc will not allow to write another track/session, therefore Nero closes the disc.
For DVD+R the max track and session count is 154, for DVD-R more than 169. However depending on the track size the same situation could happen as described above.
Sometimes these track numbers can not be reached because of a drive/media incompatibility/issues. From our experience more than 100 sessions on DVD recordable is very unusual and thus some drives might have problems, depending on the media brand.
