Hey…

Okay, here’s the deal. I’m running Windows 98se and I want to upgrade to XP, and I just found out my brother’s hard drive crashed but his wife used her Compaq Presario 5000 Restore CDs to put Windows XP onto the new hard drive they bought…

He just gave me the CDs, however I don’t readily see Windows on any of them…

Anyone know if I reformatted if these CDs would be able to load XP for me?

Note: I am not using a Compaq computer…

Thanks!

Always,
Brian

Hmmm, how’d she get windows on a blank hard drive then?

I would figure windows xp is on the restore CDs if it was put on a new hard drive?

Thanks!

Always,
Brian

You’ll probably find there’s a hidden partition on the Compaq Presario 5000, with info that the Restore CD needs.
It’s so people can’t do what you want to do.
The CD restores back to factory defaults for the system it was made for.
(Yes. Put’s all the rubbish back on.)
