48X24X48X
LITEON 48X24X48X INTERNAL REWRITABLE CD DRIVE

Cheers

Andy

yep

The biggy

Will it backup C&C generals & Unreal2???

Andy

If will you use Alcohol 120% than yes

Thanks Y’all

I found the LiteOn 48x24x48 for about $70 US.

Would it be worth the extra cash to go for a

$120 Yamaha 44x24x44 Internal CD-RW Drive Model: CRW-F1ZE

or

$160 Plextor PlexWriter 48/24/48A E-IDE

Something else? Teac? TDK? Is there a make/model that’s kinda viewed as the “holy grail” of burners currently out? I’d like to be able to keep up with the new SecuROMs, SafeDisc, etc.

read my post…

Mr. B, you can’t force these new lambs on what to buy. Most of the time, they do exactly the opposite and buy a more expensive unit just so they can brag about it to other lambs.

Anyway, here are the two best valued CD writers on the market -

Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW Model LTR-52246S Retail = $56

or

Lite On 48x24x48 CDRW Model LTR-48246S Retail = $54

Take your pick, they are both available @ Newegg.com

My humble apologies , but one can get pretty tired when another one has not done any research and expects from one to spew all his knowledge to another in 5 minutes , which cost one many years to get himself.

I’m not gonna say LiteOn is perfect , no writer is perfect. But if you have only option for ONE writer… better get a LiteOn , it can/could handle more than any other brand (perhaps AsusTek is an exception) and there are a LOT of firmwares for LiteOns.

Thanks for the quick response. a_jam_sandwich’s original question asked specifically “without breaking the Bank”. I was just asking if the LiteOn was an all around good option, or especially good for the price.

LITE-ON CD-RW 52x24x52x (LTR-52246S)

Asus CRW5224A

dont be satisfied with anything less.
