Heeelp Plz!

Hi, a need some help please. I’m a regualr dvd burner, but i had to format my computer, so i did it, but now i can’t burn any thing. I have been trying with nero 8 and magiciso burner but it didn’t work. I’m using BenQ 16X DVD-R dvds.
The error that shows up in nero is this one:

Get rid of the virtual drives, too.

I got rid of the virtual dreivers too

Can you tell us any more system specifications? Like motherboard, etc?

I have a Intel® Desktop Board DQ965GF motherboard with Intel®Core 2 Duo. You can see it here http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DQ965GF/DQ965GF-overview.htm
I have 1gb of ram, 2 Western Digital hard drives One of 80 GB an one of 250 GB. The combo burner is a LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H42N. And that is it.

Have you tried better ide cables?

i don’t think that the cables are the problem, because it works fine with my hard drives

The error is the bsod?
Try to reinstalled drivers?

Hi, i have a new thing to take in count. I connected a compleate different burner and the same error came out. I think the problem is in the pc not in the burner. Any one have an idea? Plz HELP!

Uninstall the Marvell drivers and never reinstall them as long as you use a PATA optical drive with that motherboard.

If you’re not given an easy way to uninstall the Marvell drivers from Add/Remove Programs, go into Device Manager and manually “update” the Marvell controller to the stock Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller driver.

Can you tell me how to uninstall the marvel drivers an what is a PATA optical drive?

P-ATA parallel-atapi also known as IDE, have a look herew for more info.
Can you tell me how to uninstall the marvel drivers
As I hinted, go into Device Manager, find the Marvell controller, right click on it, select “Update Drivers”, and manually select the standard IDE controller [don’t allow it to do an automatic search].

I found it like you told me to. I uninstalled it. I tried to burn but the problem stills

In case you haven’t solved your problem yet:

Try (if neccessary, clean-install Windows from scratch!) installing the Intel-chipset drivers for your board AND Intel Application Accelerator AND Adaptec ASPI layer BEFORE you install any burning software, even Nero, although it comes with it’s own ASPI… (sometimes crucial to follow the order during install…!)

I’ve got a mainboard with Intel-chipset (although slightly older than yours) and Windows XP is known for quickly resetting drive DMA-Modes when an error occurs.
I had recurring problems, before I used the Intel Application Accelerator. It prevents Windows from forcing the DMA-Mode to very low values and lets you set DMA easily.

Also, if the problem persists, look in the system-event viewer for more details.
Perhabs you could test your burner on another system, just to make sure…? And be sure to use first-class media for any testing! Update the firmware of your burner, if you haven’t yet and be careful about it - see the guides concerning this around this board.

Good luck!
EDIT: The error occurring is always NeroError(-1114).
Have you considered using a different burning software? ImgBurn, as well as Prassi ONES (not developed anymore, but containing the best burning engine ever and still veeery useful for most tasks) are highly recommended. Look around the board for any other recommendations. LOT’s of people report problems with NERO. Don’t use it myself… EDIT

Intel Application Accelerator can play havoc with DMA on IDE drives…so I usually advise against installing that.
