Hey guys.. This is for people who may have a similar problem to what i went through. I have a HDMI graphics card. Obviously carries sound and video. Well that's great but the problem came when i turned off my TV and then turned it back on, there would be no sound. So every single time i had to reboot the computer to get my sound back. I did post this problem on here but i think everyone was a bit baffled with what could be a solution to this. I figured if i went out and bought a separate audio out card with optical out and went right to the receiver with it that would be the end of it. Well i did that today but the solution didn't come that easy. I bought a ASUS Xonar DG audio card for 30.00. connected everything and configured it in playback devices and no sound. I decided to call asus to see what they had to say. They could not figure it out but offered other solutions such as a dvi to hdmi dongle. In the software that the driver installed i could see that the equalizer was seeing sound but wasn't delivering it to the speakers. finally i found a drop down arrow there where a second menu appeared and low and behold a unchecked box was at the bottom "SPIDIFOUT". So i checked that and bang. i had sound.even better i was able to turn off my TV and still have sound. So if anyone has this problem like i had with an HDMI cable cancelling out the sound when you turn off your TV, i hope this can help.
