Prices may never be that low again - the Seagate/Western Digital duopoly we have now would rather make a bit of profit.
I wonder if we’ll see a price fixing investigation sometime in the next few years. ;)
The manufacturers didn’t TRIPLE prices,
The “Brick & Mortar” retailers didn’t ever triple the prices
(Note: when I can buy a drive at Best Buy for 30% less than a Newegg “sale price” I should be presented with a newegg executive to
kick in the nuts until I grow weary of doing so)
But the online dealers increased the prices of some drives to 350% of pre-flood pricing.
Newegg was actually selling drives, for considerably more than WD’s MSRP. And though I have not checked lately probably still are selling some drives at similarly elevated prices
at one point the WD 750gb “Black” drive was selling for $229, that’s nearly four times what they were selling for pre-flood…
Those bastards have cost me an awful lot of money from their abusive higher prices costing me sales. I could choke down the higher prices for the few drives I actually need personally, but when it costs a sale…
Yes, I’m very angry.
I’m likely to remain that way for a long, long time.
as should everyone, you should all remain angry for being financially RAPED.
