Got to wonder, why either of the camps made these announcements. I’d be keeping quiet about these ill thought out protection schemes and dump them on the consumer at release like they usually do (after all the consumer is just the cash cow, they dont need to know they buying a crippled product).

Oh, well, there goes the neighbourhood, me thinks the canny chinese will be the first kids on the block, to sell a cheap hybrid player that replays all CD audio and DVD formats!

Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, format wars, incompatibility, unreliable copy protection mechanism, DRM galore… Yuck! Long live good old DVD! :B
