Have you ever wanted to just smash your brains in?

So I want to put in a capture card (already have two that I have used before). I decide while I’m at it, I’ll redo my heatsinks and fans (been planning it for a while) (BIG MISTAKE). I never even got to the capture card.
I redid this (it was a pain but not that big of a pian)

So I have a volcano 11 fan and the fan off an x dream on the back of my case, blowing right into a jet7, just like I wanted. Problem is it took 5 hours to install the jet7 (after 2 hours with my wife helping, she went to bed crying and I spent the next 3 hours doing it myself (we were both sleep deprived from the night before).
So right now I wish to smash my main computer to bits… what do you think?
ok fine so I’m just blowing off some steem, but I may actually vilentlly destroy 2g worth of computer that I so carfully, lovingly built.
So here is what I got done. Here is the fucking jet7

Here is the air flow

So what do you think? Smashit or wait till I sober up tomoorow?

here’s an idea…get a new case…then smash the empty old one.

#3

Hm. That’s why I sometimes don’t like computers. The computer industry is too divided to try at something friendly and scalable.

#4

You don’t know how funny that is. the case is an antec plus view (my baby, I havent been able to bring my self to chop the grils for the peltier chips for beter cooling). It is my newest, sweetest case. It sports an amd xp 2500 overclocked to 3200 with 512mb of kingston 3200 (nicly speed matched to the mild overclock. just an ati 8500 but it oc too. I have been tearing apart my best rig, and yes, it’s painfull!!! Here is a shot of when I was first getting it set up.

Fyi that blue cpu fan is the xdream fan that is now one of the two power houses attached to the bach of the case.

#5

didn’t realize it was a new case.

from this pic, it looked like an old, grimy case. perhaps you just haven’t cleaned the fans (look at the PSU fan, it’s pretty dirty).

ok, then take an old case and smash it

#6

As far as other cases to tear apart, here is the view from my computer desk
http://www.pbase.com/richardh/image/38816315
another pile
http://www.pbase.com/richardh/image/38816346
Ok fine, so even though I have a few more piles like that, its old at shit!!!
The pic may not tell the story… This is my baby… And yes, I might smash it (I have never had such a bitch of a heat sink spring)!!! I’m not sure I didn’t crack the motherboard I put so much preasure on it (there might go my abit nf7-s). I don’t think I cracked it but I shure as hell put enough preasure on it getting that fucking heat sink on that I might have???

#7

Hm. The case looks so small.

#8

Hahaha
What, are you saying I dont clean my fans???
All my computers may have older stuff in it. I’m a heavy smoker so it takes six months for that brown shit to coat everything and you cannot just blow it off. Once its on, you either scrub the shit off or it stays!!! CAnned air, 125 psi off an air compressor hose, washing it with rubbing alcohol??? If you dont scrub that smokers tar shit off, it stays!!

#9

It is sideways but it is the best full picture I found that I had online.

It is this case
http://www.antec-inc.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=90510#
Nothing famous, but it is a sweet case. At one time I had all the wires neetly wraped (in uv blue of course) and of course all round cables (uv blue of course) and all the power leeds off the second power suppy (uv red of course :stuck_out_tongue: ) and shit loads of uv and blue lights of course, but I have gotten lasy with the looks shit!!!

#10

i hear ya about the smoke, i smoke too…my fans don’t look quite that bad though :stuck_out_tongue:

your place is riddled with PC parts much like my apt.

#11

OK fine, you caught me. The case is not years old like some of the other shit (including some of the parts in it) but it is several months (maybe even close to a year) old. It’s still my newest case and my nicest so it’s my baby. I’m almost at the point that I could start choping it up to modify it but not quite yet. It is still my sweetest, best case that sports my best (not the shit but pretty good) computer.

#12

I hate cleaning fans. Believeit or not, earlier today, before I ripped it apart, that blue fan on the back of the case was the cpu fan. That picture was taken tonight after I tore all the shit apart and put it back together. The fans may look aged but I just assembled it tonight.

#13

I’m a heavy smoker
Me too, but I consider smoking around my PC as bad as smoking anywhere near my boy. Heres a pic of a big clean case. I got this case of my brother in law, then extended it and polycarb’d it. (5mm Poly, can withstand up to a .38 calibre from no less than 25m) Since the Poly carb I’ve had no heat troubles, and the 4 case fans:). It stands 47 cm (18.5") by 23 cm (9") and 45 cm deep. (17.5") The best thing about being clear and on display is I have to clean it in and out once a week. OK Its not that clean:)

#14

hehehe, so are you sobering up enough that you’re not about to “smash your brains in” or smash your “baby”?

while we’re at it…here’s one of my PCs (the desk no longer looks like that…nowhere near that actually):

#15

I thought you’re talking about the real ones … I was gonna post, yes.

#16

Yea I am but I’m still a little frustrated. Its still sitting on the floor in the livingroom with screwdrivers and parts trays etc. sitting around it. You have no idea how hard it was to get that heat sink to lock on. I would have given up were it not for the idea of a side input fan
http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-213-1.htm
with two power house fans blowing cool air straight into the intake. Further, I’m trying a peltier setup on the back of the case. If a 45 watt pelt can reduce the entire case temp by 2 degrees, two stacked 45 watt pelts with the air directed into the jet 7 wshould have a decent effect on cpu temp. Maybe it’s tim3e for a stronger overclock!!!

#17

I like you rig!!! I don’t know what it is but blue glow is the shit!!!
You have no idea how long I waited for blue uv reactive spiwral wrap. The stuff I finally got (the first avalable in th US) was shit but it was fuckin blue, it looked cool as shit under uv, and I was happy as shit to spend 12-14 hour routing and wraping my wires. I have gotten lazy since then (changed a lot of shit when I went raid) and I didn’t have the patience to rewrap it all.

#18

since others are showing there here is the one i just built. there is also another fan on the top of the case like the little alien one on the side plus 2 80mm fans on the inside just under the lcd on front for the hd’s

#19

Yea I am but I’m still a little frustrated.

tinkering around with your PC trying to get everything just right is all part of the fun, ripit!

Its still sitting on the floor in the livingroom with screwdrivers and parts trays etc. sitting around it.

haha, like my first attachment here?

You have no idea how hard it was to get that heat sink to lock on.
i do, it was a bitch getting my XP-90 to lock down properly.

2 stacked pelts definitely calls for a higher overclock!

2nd attachment is the CURRENT state of my computing environment, LOL!

I am getting ready to use the stuff you have to slide on.(not for sure what its called though) I know i am in for a ride. I will have to take every connector apart and put them back:sad: but it will be worth it:iagree:
