Please excuse if this is in wrong forum as this question spans a few subjects not sure where to post. I'm looking for a video compression setting/format that will work well with both a Zune 120 and Playstation 3. As a bit of background, I am currently using Handbrake to encode movies (from my own collection purchased legally) into M4V(H.264) files since both Zune and PS3 will support this format without additional transcoding. I have tried a few settings and using Ipod preset with strict anamorphic and video bitrate set to 2500kbps (highest supported by Zune and file size is not a huge concern, I have 500GB HDD in PS3) video quality is great but picture on my 40" Samsung LCD is coming out as 720x354 which I actually prefer to watch on a tv but this aspect ratio uses only about 1/3 of the Zune screen. Is there a better compromise that won't crop out too much of the pic while utilizing more of the 320x240 zune screen. I have already tried forcing both 320x240 and 720x480 on handbrake while only getting distorted pictures on either device. I would prefer to use Handbrake as it is freeware but I'm not opposed to buying software if it will work. Thanks in advance for any posts. I appreciate any advise.
