It’s the fifth conference in New York City and this one threatens to be the best yet. It all takes place July 9-11, 2004, at the Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan.
The Fifth HOPE will run around the clock starting Friday morning and ending Sunday night. We have a huge amount of space on three floors in the hotel, which is located right across the street from Penn Station in midtown. We encourage participation of all sorts, whether it be by organizing a panel or talk, volunteering to help with setup and coordination, adding to the network of computers we intend to hook together, setting up an informational booth to promote a project you’re involved in, or coming up with ideas on things to do that we haven’t already thought of! The potential is virtually without limit.
This is a conference by, for, and about hackers on as many levels as we can come up with, ranging from the highly technical to the down to earth, from computers to phones, from serious to hilarious. And our doors are open to anyone interested in what the hacker world has to say.
We’re planning several tracks of speakers, films, and more. Updates on all of this plus schedules will be posted on this website.
We’re happy to announce that Steve Wozniak, who helped to shape the very nature of today’s computers with his Apple Computer designs, will be the Saturday keynote speaker at The Fifth HOPE this July in New York City.
Wozniak has a long history in Silicon Valley and is respected worldwide as a visionary and philanthropist. He currently runs Wheels of Zeus (wOz) and is on the board of directors of Jacent and Danger, Inc.
