another problem i encountered from my burner…
after two failed attempts of burning a movie to a Generic No brand CD-R… this are only the results i’ve get… a log report of error…

even Ultra DMA-2 is enabled from IDE Controller in Device manager still just
the same results… The weird thing is… the Nero DMA Manager is not available in Nero Startmart…? :confused:

i wonder why…? :confused:

My mobo is a Asus P4V800D-X with a VIA PT880 chipset and VIA VT8237R+ controller…

any idea about this problem…

Not sure this is really related to DMA, despite Nero’s message.
“Generic No brand CDR”, this sounds like a more plausible cause of your issue…

But in case your IDE drivers are the VIA ones, you should uninstall them and Let Windows go back to the generic Microsoft IDE drivers, which tend to work much better with Optical drives.

Completely agree with Franck. Do try some better media too though. :slight_smile:

If nothing helps, replace the ide cable with a new one.

As we have explained repeatedly these Communications CRC Errors have nothing to do with the media being used. In about 99.9999% of all cases it is because the cable is defective. For UDMA to function properly the use of High Quality Flat 80-Conductor IDE cables is required. Other potential cases are the motherboard/controller or the drive, but mostly it is the cable that is bad.
