GSA H12-N problems (will read but not write)

Hello,
I bought a boxed new drive and I have the following problems:
When trying to write under Nero Or Alcohol, I get a DMA CRC error (nero) Or a Pregap Error (alcohol). Strange thing is that it erases ok!
I have done everything…
Changed cables,
slave/master swap
different media (most of them quality ones if I may add)

Below is a paste of my Nero latest failed attempt to burn an image

So I say, let’s patch the firmware using the latest official one UL02 instead of the UL01 I am currently using

I get this error:

[edit by author: WinXP SP2 + all relevant updates)

Updating was failed. Please repeat that. (Error data = 70 00 04 00 00 00 00 10 CD B3 BA 00 08 03 00 00 00 00 89 00 00 00

Guys please help as if not much else works, I will have to take it back and vendor is terrible with refunds/replacements :frowning:

Thanks

Have you tried swapping out the IDE cable for a new one?

Replace the ide cable and remove that Alcohol software too.

Yes, I have tried 3 different IDE cables so far

Exchanged it for a same new drive.

Same problems.

Also, it is not software, as I was unable to write anything under Linux as well.

It’s obviously something on your PC then (I would suggest uninstalling Alcohol as chef suggested to rule that out).

Under Windows, can you please run Nero InfoTool, and post the resulting .txt file here so we can see what’s going on driver/software/hardware wise on your system. Thanks.
