GSA-4167B no news in Europe?

Hi,

Does someone have any news on the release of this drive, please.
Only german sites have prices and since the news from the fareast, a considerable number of days is gone with no fresh indications+

What’s the difference going between the 4165B and the 4167B ?
Since neither by the looks have Lightscribe.

Good point,

Specification seems the same. The 65 was announced 5/6 months back, but the 67 is already said to be in the shops (at least in Japan, and maybe some other(s) fareast country(ies) and didn’t see any news about the 65 availability.
Maybe just a reference change…

Oops! Just read your post on it.
By the way you got it, maybe you are just a lucky man.
No kidding, if they end up selling the new model as GSA-4165B it can be a model differentiation according to the markets. It would be an interesting point to clarify.

4x vs. 6x DVD+R DL and shorter drive length according to hlds.co.jp. The site also mentions faster CD-RW speed for the 4167 but AFAIK the CD-R/RW write speed is 48x/32x for the 4165 too so I think it’s a typo.

Tks jsl
CDfreaks news (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/11484) indicated the 65 as doing 8x for +DL , the same as I’ve seen for the 67 from other sources, but you’re right HLDS site indicates 4x ZCLV and 6x ZCLV for the drives (65 and 67). Apart from the size difference+
But the interesting is a news piece (the only one in the site for 2005) saying that at CeBIT 16x DVD-RAM was shown. The expected NEC drive with RAM support was said to do this speed, that seems quite high as would require +/- or above 10000 rpm and raised some doubts. You can see it here:

http://www.hlds.co.jp/e_news/HLDSNewsView.jsp
With a new tech show by September shall we expect LG to increase RAM speeds in this dramatic way?

16x DVD-RAM is no news. What’s missing is when any will start mass production and when the new specification will be finalized before that.

Yes, you’re right and that’s the reason I referred the next NEC drive that is supposed to be 16x.
The question is if LG will joint this speed specification (that seems to have to wait for standard approval) in the near future+

The specs for the 4165B are all wrong on the LG websites.
I’m getting faster burn speeds than stated.
They just copied the 4163B stats as DVD-R DL is missing altogether.
CDR burning is @48x not 40x as stated and many others.

I have a feeling as said before that there is a region difference to the drives.
Specs (from LG) are almost the same taking into consideration the mistakes.

What is the firmware version of the 4167B ?

The CD-R speed is as I mentioned wrong but what more? DVD-R DL speed is specified to 4x:

[DVD-R] £º SL - 2x, 4x CLV, 8x ZCLV, 16x PCAV
            DL - 2x, 4x CLV

The specs for the 4165B here are also wrong, this is all very confusing.
So I doubt wether the 4167B are right as well, won’t know till they are officially released.

Here is what I think is now the 4165B’s specs, taken from the setup guide that I have for the drive, added all the burning methods.

I think the 4167B will have DVD+R DL @ 6x this being the only diffenence between the 2 drives. (4165B @ 4x)
I doubt wether the 4165B will be a big seller with the 4167B out as well.

Everything on HLDS website for the 4165 match the specs you posted except the CD-R write speed. I don’t know what other errors you see…
