GSA-4166B Doesn't burn at all, Burn Fail Error

vbimport

#1

Hi Everyone!

I have a LG GSA-4166B Burner and it use to burn fine. I have burnt many DVD-R as well as DVD-R DL with it.

I didn’t burn a DVD for over a month and yesterday when I tried to burn one it gave an error message. It doesn’t burn at all and DVD-R stays untouched (usable blank DVD-R). Below are my System details as well as Nero’s Error Log. I have tried burning ISO images or creating a Data DVD but both failed. I have tried Nero, ImgBurn, DVD Decrypt, Alcohol 120% and Ultra ISO but none of them worked.

OS:- Windows XP SP2 (Updated)
RAM:- 1GB
CPU:- AMD Athlon XP 2600+
DVD Burner is fixed on Secondary IDE Slot as Master

Note: I have played around with settings (different type of ISO standards etc…) but nothing worked :frowning:

Any help will be great.

Thanks in Advance.

Use better media!

#3

In addition to replacing those discs - Ritek G05 are very prone to premature failure - you shouldn’t use Multi-Session. This is mainly an issue with Nero as DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn don’t offer this option.

With Alcohol 120% make sure that in Alcohol settings, Emulation, that Ignore Media Type is unchecked. This can have serious consequences for successful burning.

Verbatim media is always a good , safe option btw.

Thanks for replying.

I also have Lite-on DVD Writer and it works fine. I need to burn a Dual Layer DVD and thats what I can’t do with my old Lite-on Writer because it doesn’t support DVD-R DL

I have burnt the same DVD-R media using Lite-on Writer that was not working with LG 4166b. :frowning:

Where did DL media suddenly come from? It you get some only get Verbatim +R DL.

Just because 1 burner will handle this crap media doesn’t mean that another will.
