GSA 4163B - Book type not supported

I have been using the 4163B for some time, successfully burning DVD-R and DVD-RW.

On the last few occasions the burn has failed at the Lead in stage with the log comment ‘Book type not supported’… This is despite using the same CD-RW as I have used previously and the same brand of DVD-R. DVD Info shows the drive as supporting all the usual types . I have tried Nero set on both Auto and Physical disc type but to the same effect. Have also tried totally erasing the DVD-RW rather than quick erasing before starting but with no success.

Can anyone help, please? ( As I shall be away from the PC for a few days my apologies if I do not immediately acknowledge any help given)

You cannot booktype DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. The 4163B only supports booktyping on DVD+R and DVD+DL discs. You don’t need to booktype DVD-R discs anyway. Have not tried DVD-RW discs.

A short time ago someone had the same failure with Nero trying to set the book type on -R media. They updated to 6.6.0.16 & the error went away.

Have to confess at being a novice as far as the technical side goes so maybe the Book Type comment does not highlight the problem I had not altered the settings of Nero until after the problem occurred on both DVD-R and DVD RW.
