I pulled this out of a longer post I put in another thread but wanted others to see this.
I currently have a LTR-40125S (May 2002) oc’d to a LTR-48125W VS06. I have no problems with this set up at all–I get flawless 48x burns every time–and I mean EVERY (700+MB burns too). I have found a media that works perfectly with this firmware/drive. It is the:
Verbatim DataLifePlus, super AZO, CD-R 80 48x drive approved.
Smartburn 2.0 can’t detect it.
ATIP info from disk - Read by Feurio 1.65.4ÃŸ

And Nero Infotool and CDspeed both can not read ATIP and report nothing.
You can pick these disks up at Sam’s Club for $24.99 per 100/spindle. These CD-R’s work so well I bought 500 disks. I have yet to make a coaster.
