I got the latest Google Maps for my Android phone today, and as far as I can tell, the offline search and offline navigation do not work - even if I have downloaded the map and can view it, Maps always demands internet access in order to search and navigate.

Is this working for anyone else, or did Google promise too much before they could deliver it?

After directing me today to refresh my offline maps, Google Maps seems able to search and navigate offline.
