Good DVD writer choices

Hello to everyone. I was told I could find help here to select a decent writer.
Present one is giving me the blues and though I would love to keep it, can’t seem to solve the problems it’s causing. It has IDE connection but I also have a spare SATA (port?) that’s connected to anything.
Thanks in advance…

Sorry I meant to say that the spare SATA isn’t being used.

What is the model number of the drive that’s giving you problems? What are the specific problems you’re having with it?

Is your computer primarily IDE, with a SATA port or two, or is it primarily SATA, with an IDE port or two?

If you’re going to buy a new drive then you might as well make the move to SATA. I suggest getting a Sony/Optiarc AD-7240S or a Lite-On iHAS324-98. There are other recommended drives, but they’re difficult to find now.

Lite-On iHAS424-08 for cd-r and AD-7240S/7241S for dvd+r burning.
