Good deal on Ricoh media

Newegg currently has RICOHJPNR01 media branded RiData 100 pack for $47.99 with a $10 rebate available until August 15th which brings the price down to $37.99.

38 cents apiece for Ricoh media? Is this deal too good to be true or is it just a really good deal right now? I’ve heard that Ricoh media is almost on par with TY media.

Either way I ordered a pack of these today from Newegg since my last shipment of Samsung’s turned out to be Optodiscs :frowning:

  1. Recently there were people who recieved Ritek R03 for this deal.

  2. I received one pack today and they were… ricohjpnr01

So it seems that they went back to ricohjpnr01.

  1. I’m now testing a few of them (NEC 2500A w/ 1.07v2b5). I don’t think they are the best ricohjpnr01. They are certainly accptable, especially regarding their price. But scan from my 166s indicates that they are clearly behind my Ridata 4x -R. (It was a good G04 batch I believe. )
I see high PI errors near the inner ring, while the outer part is much better.

  2. 8x burn isn’t bad. But I will stick on 4x. Nero CDSpeed read curve is somewhat better for 4x.

  3. I can’t tell what I recieved is an average one. You may get much better or worse pack. Good Luck!

So? It’s a good deal. You will have a hard time finding a 38cent disc better than this. But it isn’t like a “deal of a century”.
