Is there a good cd-writer that is cheap is do RAW+96 and also do good SD2 copies?

#2

ASUS 16x & LG GCE-16x

#3

Can you give me some info on those writers??? Thx :stuck_out_tongue:
Like support writing CD-TEXT or not… Read CD-Text… etc…

ASUS

LG GCE

I recall that both can do DAO-RAW +96 & both are SD2.51.021 killers  but check here

As for the rest…you’ll have to check

#5

Hmmm…
The CloneCD main homepage is down…
hope they are updating… (CloneCD and Homepage)

#6

www.elby.org works just fine here

#7

softwareguy…in the US liteon cdrw are very reasonable priced and work great…they do SD2.51.21…I think the only weakness is cactus data shield(in the reading of the protection…I think they write an image fine)

I love my 24102B…it works great…the prices are on the 32x and 40x cdrw are very good as well…

#8

Do you mean Liteon can’t read Catus?

#9

My understanding is the Liteon can not read Cactus Data shiled…I have no cd to confirm this but numerous reliable sources have confirmed this…there is a hope a firmware update will fix this in the future

#10

According to Olli, the fact if a drive can read audio protections like CDS or K2A depends on the firmware in the drive… so maybe LiteOn will release a firmware which can cope with those protections (my LiteOn ltd163 and ltr-40125s can’t read the protections…)

Is Plextor a good writer?

yes plextor 24x on up are good writers

and from what i heard with tha new clone cd 4 they can now copy tha new safe disk v2 (v2.51.021)

my self i would go with a lite-on 24x (24102b) this is what i have  and it copys mohaa no problem and i dont even have to use AWS.

#13

Go for a Lite-On!!! Plextor are not bad, but also not cheap! Lite-On are just better.

Greetzzz,

Sauron

#14

definently go a lite on if you can get one if not try for an acer (now benQ)

the acers won’t read all subs but they will burn everything except lybcrypt…but don’t quote me on that for the new 32X and 40X acers/benQs

#15

But LiteOn cant read CDS…:Z
hmmm…
Here’s some cheap writers that i found in the stores…
which is the best one that can copy SD2.5 and overburn?

Acer 12x8x32 IDE Int $99.00
Aopen 12x10x32 IDE Int $105.00
HP 9310i 10x4x32 IDE Int $109.00
Mitsumi 8x4x32 IDE Int $85.00
NEC 12x10x32 IDE Int $139.00
NEC 8x4x32 IDE Int $85.00
Panasonic 8x4x32 IDE Int $85.00
Plextor 12x10x32 IDE Int $165.00
Samsung 12x10x32 IDE Int $139.00
Samsung 8x4x32 IDE Int $85.00
Sony 12x10x32 IDE Int $95.00
Sony 8x4x32 IDE Int $85.00
Toshiba 4x4x24 CD-RW & 4xDVD Combo Int. IDE $179.00
Yamaha 16x10x40 IDE $169.00
Yamaha 8x8x24 SCSI Int $125.00

can someone give advice for this?
Thanks!

P.S. I currently got a Mitsumi 4084te, I wanted to chnage cuz it can’t copy SafeDisc 2 prop. (doesn’t support EFM) and also the copy only works in CD drives even when the SD is 2.3… (don’t want to install CloneCD everywhere when trying to play  )
Can someone tell me something about this also?

#16

softwareguy…as far I can tell none of the writers listed will do 1:1 SD2.51.21 backups…

you need a liteon, asus 16x, LG GCE 16x…and there are a few others

#17

the acer 12X listed will burn sd2 quite hapilly

but you will be better off waiting till you find a liteon burner as they are dirt cheap and will burn it all if you have the right reader.

the only thing they cant read is the new protected audio…though liton could fix this with a future fw update.

i’m assuming that the prices listed are in US$ and if this is the case…shop somewhere else cause you’ll be getting burnt

the drives listed are quite old now and for the equivelant $ or less you will find newer better drives

read around, ask questions and take ur time and be happy in the end

If you read this thread, it details the SD 2.51.021 killer burners. The EFM ‘double- dot’ burners, most but not all, are also detailed at elby.org. We can wax lyrical for ages and even continue to admire the question but I think “asked & answered”, OK? Visit the Plextor & Liteon Firums on this site as well as General Hardware if you like.

Are you sure the the Acer 12x cdrw can burn SD version 2.51.21…which is on Medal of Honor…I thought the Acer were no longer able to do this version of SD2…

#20

yep the acer 12X will burn it as long as the image is read correctly
