Even with the drop in price of HDDs, the fact that companies like Acer and Dell continue to struggle won’t help HDD sales.

I believe SSDs are still a couple of years away – mainly due to price – but enterprises mixing up HDDs and SSDs will have the best of both worlds, IMO.

Uh, maybe since HDDs are so big now, you don’t need to buy a new one so fast… man people fail to realize the obvious!

If you have your PC setup to be an HTPC, you can easily go through a TB of HDD space or at least I could. I have at least 750GB of music in lossless format and then alot more than that in movies that I could put on a HDD. Got a laptop now and it is nice to stream content from my PC downstairs to my laptop upstairs. Besides, this is probably the best time to buy HDD anyways. Usually low demand means more stock which means lower prices. Newegg I know for sure are selling 1TB HDD for a little over $100!! I need to get at least 2TB and an external enclosure and I will be happy for at least the near future.

Capturing Digital TV eats disk space like there’s no tomorrow. I’ll be needing 2-4GB drives soon.
