Generic DVD-R 16X - Burner says unrecognized media

I have been burning a lot of 8X DVD-R in my NEC-3500, no prob. I bought some 16X generic and the burner doesn’t recognize the media.

Would upgrading to latest firmware fix this problem?

Thanks,

It may… providing NEC added the media in question to the firmware. If not, you’ll have to go with a hacked firmware…

Perhaps, but more details are needed first. Look in your device manager and tell us what it says the writer is.

Yo Johnny-

Have been using 2.FC - stock version with some very good results on one computer and 2.18btrpc1 on the other - also with good results-

You can find them both here:

Thanks!

Open mouth, switch feet! lol Sorry, I read wrong.

Generic 16X media is CRAP media. If you must burn at 16X, and don’t know why, then get quality 16X rated media like Verbatim. Yuden000 T02 will also work well @ 16X with the NEC 3500.
