General question about buffers

I don’t burn movies any faster than 6x on my Pioneer as they can get choppy if you go any faster. The Pioneer has a 2MB buffer.

I’ve seen listings for Plextor drives with an 8MB buffer. Would this larger buffer assist in burning movies faster without the choppiness, or not?

no; at high speed the DVD transfers more than 8MB per second so try to set tour ard drive in U-DMA 66 min and or/defragment.
if this is isn’t enough; buy a new HDD for your DVD burns…

In my opinion a bigger buffer than 2MB is completely useless if you do not use package writing.

it’s not completely useless…

multiple recorder burning, burning while other HDD intensive tasks are going on, etc etc all benefit from having an 8mb buffer…
