Hello

Can anyone tell me why when burning a general dvd that you have to finalize it on that perticular machine before another recorder will recognize it? Is there a work around for this?

Thank you

Yes when you record a dvd -r or dvd+ r . You do have
to finalize it on the machine you are using. dvdrw’s I don’t
think you have to finalize because you can erase and use
over and over, but some older dvd players won’t play
them.

You also have to finalize - RW to play on other players then when you want to use them again you just erase them.On my settop you can also undo finalize if you have unused space on the -RW & don’t want to erase +RW discs don’t need to be finalized.
