GCE-8400B, GCE-8525B and GSA-H58N don't burn more than 16x/24x

Hello, I have these writers and 50 Traxdata CD-R. The GCE-8400B and GCE-8525B do not burn at more than 16x CLV even when selecting the maximum speed in the recording software (40x and 52x respectively). GSA-H58N records at 24x Z-CLV even selecting 48x CAV. I have burned more than 30CD’s.

If I do a recording simulation with Nero Disc Speed, they do it at maximum speed.

Example with GSA-H58N:

In the past (2015) i had the traxdata valuepack (Ritek also) and burned them to 48x with GSA-H58N.

I don’t know what may be happening. I have noticed that my CDs are a little different from those I have seen on the internet. If I look for an image of them, they have the “Compact Disc Recordable” logo below the lines of writing and a hub code. Mine do not have that logo or anything written in the hub.

This my CD-R https://i.imgur.com/YXIVq60.jpg and this is a internet image http://ez647.sk/CD_DVD_BD_PICTURE/TRAXDATA/CDR52XS.jpg

They are fake Ritek? Or maybe my three drives are bad? I have not tried other CD-R, but also have a GSA-H10A drive crossflashed to GSA-H12N that can burn them without problems at 48x Z-CLV. I have another drive, GSA-H54N (Panasonic chipset, like H58N) with which i can try.

I’m sorry for my bad English. Thanks very much.

I have tested with the GSA-H54N and has not been able to burn the CD. The CD-R is recognized, but at the beginning of the recording it gets stuck in “Writing Leadin”. The LED on the unit does not blink, even though the disc is heard to rotate. When canceling the operation, the disc comes out intact (blank).

This is the ImgBurn log. Selecting the speed of 48x, warns that you can only record at 40x, but it reminds you again of the supported speeds that includes 48x. At lower speeds it is still stuck in Leadin.

EDIT: Well, this seems like a problem with the controller or IDE cable. This unit is in sister’s PC and has never been used.

Or the problem is it’s never been used, I have three units from different manufacturers sitting in the tower several years and now got rusty and act up on specific tasks, producing coasters. They’re off to be replaced by new tier hardware

It is very possible, but from what I have read, this error refers to communication troubles. I have inspected and cleaned the unit (light dust). Just try the drive on another computer with other IDE cable.

I have tested the GSA-H54N on my pc and it happens the same as the GSA-H58N. Simulation at 48x but burn only at 24x.
