What is possible that the Verbatim I once got, were from Sams Wholesale store in this 100 pack. Sometimes they get unique inventory from the rest of the stores
It has been my experience that in U.S. retail stores, that the brand and the quality of the brand may vary as it is packaged. Fujifilm varies. On the CD end, Fujifilm always were high quality TY when they had dark blue packaging. Then They had some less expensive CDs, in a more colorful package, and they were not the TYs, but of lwo quality.
The Sony DVDs, I have purchased seem to be Riteks, but good quality.
The Memorex, forget it. Those will vary as they will contract for the cheapest media they can find. Uusually they will be very cheap CMC.
Hewlett Packard, was always among the highest quality of whatever they made, until their prior CEO, merged with Compaq, made millions and destroyed the company.
Now their media is always the cheapest crap and is CMC. Their printers went from best to worst, which really saddened me. The HP printers also cost twice the amount to operate compared to a Canon.
I would really like to have some kind of database that we can all put our findings of what we purchase. Not only the media, but the box and item number of the box. In that way we can always be confident in what we are getting.
Now that I have seen how well the DL works, there are some special types of backups that I would like to make, where I want that luxury of a DL.
Now that it appears that the Verbatim are about $2 each 2 in a ten pack, it is getting to be that I would like to use more of them.
I also will tell you that I could care less about the Blue-Ray, etc. Just marketing nonsense and I have no desire to help anyone get control of a market and just spend because it is cool.
If I need 25gbs, I think it would be more reliable, and more flexible to take some of my older 20 ro 40 gb IDE drives, put them in one of the IDE to USB cases and use them.
