You can’t “upgrade” a mobo from DDR1 to DDR2.

and i want to use my same CPU to save money problem is most mobo on newegg. only supports 800+fsb and my CPU is only 533 Fsb. can i use my celeronD 3.333 CPU on a mobo that suports that processor. and socket.ect. only non spec is the FSB my CPU at 533 FSB and the mobo i want only supports 800-1066 FSB can i use my CPU on it or am i out of luck? :frowning:

In your case the mobo must support Celeron and 533FSB.
You will probably have to shop eBay and you will probably have to stay with DDR1.

IMHO, that processor is weak and not worth trying to “build on”.
There are many “last generation” options that would offer a significant increase in speed over what you have now.
Take a look at the used prices for an 865/875 (Intel) board or an Nforce4 (AMD) board and an appropriate processor.
You may be able to recycle you ram with these.

Hi,
i ment from my board that supports ddr1. to a new board that supports ddr2.
What do you expect from this? I don’t see any advantage, so I wouldn’t spend any money on that system.

You already bought this mainboard? What mainboard do you have now?

eMachines RC410 (Grant County) Motherboard - 4006117R. is the mobo i have now. i have a factory emachine T3508. (pice of junk for gameing) i want to upgrade it to more so use of gameing. for around 150$ or less. i got a combo of mobo/gpu/ram for 140$ on newegg.
useing same old parts from my new one. and i wona update my ddr1 to ddr2 so later on in a few years i can update and reuse the same ram and such. bc ddr1 is costly and harder to get a mobo for gameing that use’s ddr1. and my mobo/BIOS is so screwed its pointless to even call workabil. i cant use graphics cards (PCI) the mobo bios has no options for turning off the onboard video. and i dout i could use my PCIe either bc the onboard video will not turn off BIOS has no option to change anything but boot order and thats allmost it. the BIOS is allmost compleatly locked on anything. there is ofcourse no OC ability and atm i IDC. i just wona know whats best thing i can do got 150$ with this pc to play games :frowning:
here is the things i was thinking about geting but i havent gotin anything yet… any idea’s?. (any parts im not buying im useing form the old T3508.

IMHO I would just trash that whole system because it would cost you more to try and ugrade it than it would to just build a new computer, Not trying to be smart here but what did you expect with an emachine

#7

Yeah trust me i know x.x i litterly HATE emachine. but i got it for free. so only reson i have a pc. my labtop was stolen from bestbuy outa the car, so i aint had one in awail lol. this one i got for free. but aye i wona build a new one. but unless i wait 6 months till after xmas. i dont have anymore then 150$ to get a pc. and no way can i build one for that i need like 500$ >.< for a descent pc for low games like NWN2 and earth 2160. but my beaowolf game would be nice to play to. in anywase i allmost have no choice but to upgrade this one. and the fact no1 would buy a emachine unless there drunk 0,o i dout i could sell it x.x

#8

besides im screwing around with the bios on the mobo so give me about 10 mins and it wont be a working pc anymore anywase -,-
anywase thanks xD il see what i can do on getin at lest a new mobo x.x

For $150 I would get these pieces:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157125
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609027
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103221
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147048

The case isn’t ideal but it will work or you might be able to use you current eMachine case . Without the case the cost comes in under $150. With the case it is $180. Either way you are better off than what you are trying to do.

#10

really? thanks. sereusly il take a look and see

#11

well based on your opinion and the fact i hate emachine ima see if i cant sell my pc in the papper for like 200$ or at lest 150 witch will at lest give me a big boost in cash. if not in the next 7 days if i dont sell it then il get thos pices u listed.
eek >.< the Case powersupply is 20 pin. and the mobo is 24. x.x is that gona mater or will it still work?
You can get a 20 to 24 pin adapter from Newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189060

Check you PS again because you also need a four pin power plug.

#14

Now you got a rig, dude.
Couple of things…
If you go for the retail version of the CPU on your list ($6.00 more) you will get a longer warranty period and you will get an approved heatsinkfan.
So you could drop the separate HSF from your list, even though it is a nice one.

The Asrock mobo is a very good choice for a budget build, but if you could scrape together a few more bucks, this one from Gigabyte is packed with features :
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008038

The best onboard video to date (780G).
DX10 compliant.
HDMI output.
You can Google the games that it will handle with the onboard graphics alone.
With this board you may be able to hold off purchasing video card for the time being.

An amazing feature is that you can hybrid-Crossfire it with the correct ATI video card. This is where the on-board GPU and the PCI-E card work together.
You could use the onboard GPU at first, then when the budget allows, add a PCI-E card.

This may be a budget-buster for you, but it’s a sweet little board that I thought I would mention.

ZZF is good.
At Newegg, sign in and subscribe to the “Newsletter”.
A couple of days ago they had free shipping on that board.
In the newsletter they will post a promo code that you use when ordering.
