Freeze problem -Ritek

Starting burning my 1st DVD’s, with by NEC 3500 from NewEgg, on the 5 free DVD-R’s that came with it.
Watched 3 of them so far, and they all freeze about 3/4 way through the picture. It will freeze, let me advance some, and freeze again. Had to finish watching the movies with my family, from my pc
I figured it was just the cheap free DVD’s that came from NewEgg, but after looking into it, they appear to be good for others.
Here is the reviews

Please let me know what other info I can post, to help find out what my problem is. Hoping just media…

Ritek isn’t the worst media out ther but it’s not the best either. Media could defanatly be your problem. The first thing I would do is see if the 3500 is compatible with cdspeed (I am prety sure it is). Download it (it’s free) and run some quality tests.

That will help you rule out bad burns as a possible cause. If I understand right that they play fine for a while and then freeze up, it is very likly a bad burn. You could either try updating firmware to improve the burn or since you only have a few of these, try beter media.

Yo-

Suggest that you try the Ritek 8x -R’s (G05) or Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell 8x -R’s in your 3500- good place/vendor/prices for the Riteks or TY’s is Rima at www.rima.com

Also - Denon DVD standalones are known to not read burned medias very well (look at www.denon.com)

BTW - the Newegg Ritek 4x -R (G04) freebees are known for not being too good (I got 10 with my two 3500’s from Newegg - burned three coasters - chucked the rest - thank God they were free)-

ripit, thanks for the advice, I will give it that test a try

Mike I read some of your posts last week when I was searching for which DVD’s to buy for my 3500, and saw you recommended -R’s, and Verbatim was one you listed.
So I ordered 100 pack of Verbatim 8x -R from Amazon, and deal found on SilckDeals.

I guess I will wait for these to get here to do some more testing/burning.
