Free porn isn’t unfair competition to paid sites, court rules.

[newsimage]http://static.rankone.nl/images_posts/2011/02/QYDIEV.jpg[/newsimage]A free-versus-paid scenario plays out with television programming, print publications, mobile device applications, and even pornography. In the case of the pornography industry, however, one porn producer felt that a free streaming website was taking away from his website’s subscriptions and thus he decided to file a lawsuit.

Left handed?

Now if they would just do the same thing with hookers

Obviously Kevin has never been to Redtube, it is basically one big advertisement and the free content is generally pretty poor quality compared tothe pay sites I have seen, although I admit that is very limited. I suspect he has used RedTube as an advertisement vehicle but was unhappy with the results, which says more for the wuality of his content if he is unable to compete with RedTube. RedTube and other “Free” porn sites, may not cost “money” but it does have very real costs in additional time to find preferred content of an acceptable quality as well as the time it takes for all the ads to load.

Honestly, if his business is being damaged in any way by RedTube, his site must really suck or be insanely expensive. Unfortunately, many people have a very high opinion of their sites and price themselves out ot business. There are some exceptions, but in general the reasonable price/profit model does much better than the Maximum profit model. Greed kills a lot of good ideas in this world.

What’s next, will Webster and Oxford sue people who speak and write in english without purchasing their dictionaries???

The reasonable price model as demonstrated by Paramount versus 20th Century Fox back in the days of VHS tapes.

Paramount priced their StarTrek movies at $24.99 and sold (literally) millions of them.
Meanwhile 20th Century priced the Star Wars movies at $79.99

Bear in mind the entire production cost of a VHS movie packaged for sale was around $1…

just who do you think made more profit?

If you price yourself out of the market you have only yourself to blame…

Look at the US postal system as another example…

They keep raising their prices and driving more customers to their competetion, FedEx and UPS.
