Some of you have wondered where I went, others might not even know me. Once there was a time I was important here, I carried some weight (literally and metaphorically ) around here.
In the last year I may have made only one post, not too long ago in the staff forum. Nevertheless, I visited this forum at least daily and still removed some spam along the way, mostly unnoticed...but stil loyal to this forum and the wonderful people that hang out here
This week MyCE was sold back to the other founding father, Domin8tor. Back in the days I had good fun with him, but I must have done something wrong because he cut all ties when MP|3 bought him out. Now that Domin8tor is back in charge, he apparently got back at me and removed all (senior) admin rights (and that of MP|3's). In all honesty, I wish him all the best with this site, but taking away all privileges without even contacting me seems petty to me. If this is his way of doing business, then I wonder what you can expect going forward.
Now that I am free...
But, now that I am no longer part of the admin team, my opinion cannot be regarded as speaking on behalf of CD Freaks / MyCE. I am finally free to speak my mind and do not have to worry about the effect it has on this site. I trust that the new management will respect the freedom of speech and not remove this post, provided that I do not break any of the rules by using profanity or post illegal content…but I fear this will be removed or edited shortly.
What I like about this community
There are many good people here. I really enjoyed my time here and have always been proud of the people and how they helped others without getting anything in return, in most cases not even a thank you. I did not allow myself to connect with many outside this forum, but with some I did connect outside this forum.
I want to thank you all for your selfless help to others, your devotion and the joy you brought to this forum. Not just moderators and (senior) admins, but everyone contributed in their own way. With some of you I will be connected outside this forum, for the rest I wish you all the best.
What I don’t like about this site
What I have to say here is not intended or should be considered as a personal attack to anyone. However, if the shoe fits…
With a global scope comes a global variety of (cultural) values. Everyone has his/her own background that determines who we are and how we think. I generally appreciate this and try to learn from it (having to deal with people from all over the world in my professional life). However, I feel that some are very strict and ride a high horse. Some are clearly feeling they are better than others, showing little to no respect to others. Many people are lazy and go for the easy way out, as if everyone in life should hand them everything on a platinum platter (silver is not even good enough).
What really annoys me in times is the fact that a lot of people do not seem to be able to think for themselves, they are stuck in their own world without the possibility of parole. Those who do it unconsciously I can hardly blame, but others should be locked up somewhere. Why is it so hard for some people to take a hint. If a post gets removed twice, you would think people realize there might be something wrong with it and think again for posting it a third time. Or, when a caps in a thread title are removed more than once, you would expect people not to use caps in thread titles anymore. I wish everyone was gifted with common sense, is that really too much to ask?
Don’t get me started on spammers and people who blatantly violate the rules (which I wrote by the way ) by posting or requesting illegal content. But users who think they are admin and take every opportunity to publicly point out to other users what they did wrong, instead of using the ‘report bad post’ feature and let a real admin take care of it, they do not get much respect in my book….it will not bring you an admin position! Be respectful, be helpful, show dedication and you will be noticed…in a positive way, when a position opens up, they will pick the best (wo)man for the job.
Even when I am disappointed and perhaps even a bit hurt after all I have done for this site, even then I try to be respectful. I have taken a step back about a year ago, but what has happened now makes me turn around and walk away completely. I might check in every now and then, but MyCE will no longer be one of my start pages.
I value what MyCE has brought me over the years and I hope MyCE values what I have given MyCE during more than 12 years. I wish Domin8tor all the best and I am sure that he can devote even more time to the further development and bring new things and many improvements. However, I truly hope he will up his communication and management skills and treats you all better than how he makes me feel now.
Take care all!
