Force Firmware?

I was doing some Googling for Firmware for my Memorex 48MAXX and come to find out that it matches Lite-on LTR-48246S … I went to Lite-On’s website, got the newest Firmware … and was hoping to update. But of course it doesn’t recognize. Is there anyway to force this? Anyway to rename the drive to LTR-48246S?

The flashing tool requested…

MAKE SURE your firmware is backed up before flashing!
You can thank Dave the mod in firmware for this - had the same request!

I only have the .exe and I can’t extract a bin or hex from the file using WinRAR… Is there another application I could use to extract?

The .exe should decompress into a temp folder for the firmware…try to browse in your EXE to find the firmware, then try a force flash.

Naaa, Lite-ON flashers are a single executable. The firmware is inside of it… There’s a program called LiteFirm that can get the firmware out though.

I think cmr2003x meant to link to FlashFix: http://digi.rpc1.org/flashfix.htm
