Flashing Firmare and no Windows at Hand?

Ive recently bought an LG4163 and it came with A101. So far had no problems with it, but now its the second Firmware release and I’m wondering if there is a way to flash the Firmware under Linux? Maybe with wine - but I guess this won’t work well and there is no guarantee that the drive will work after that :-(. Another solution could be to boot to Dos from a Floppy, but is there a Dos Flasher?
So I’m a bit left out there any Ideas?

Not aware of a DOS flasher yet. Do you have access to a Windows machine that you could use to do your flash?

I believe you can try MTKFLASH from DOS…

> Maybe with wine

I tried to but didn’t get very far. Using a bootable Linux CD (A Knoppix derivative: http://www.kanotix.de) Wine complained about a missing DLL:

# wine /mnt/hda1/tmp/lg/GSA4163A103.exe
Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin /mnt/hda1/tmp/lg/GSA4163A103.exe ...
err:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by L"Z:\\mnt\\hda1\	mp\\lg\\GSA4163A103.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\mnt\\hda1\	mp\\lg\\GSA4163A103.exe" failed, status c0000135
Wine failed with return code 1

Don’t know whether there are ways to get around this?

 Maybe “TheDangerousBros” (Brother Vlad) can help you.

We’d have to build a binary, so we’ll need to know the version and patch level. Drop us an email if you have something specific in mind.
