Flashing BenQ 1640

My BenQ 1640 should arrive in a few days and I will be putting it in an external enclosure connected thru USB. Is it ok to flash the updated firmware when connected in this manner or should I put it in a desktop and then flash first?

Most enclosures will only flash in USB mode so you should be fine. My Vantec with the Prolific 3507 usb/firewire setup only flashes in USB mode.
I think if it doesn't like it it will just rerfuse to work or quit etc. If your really worried about it just hook it up in your PC just for the flash then put it in the external.
