Flashed wrong flash to LG HL-DT-STDVD -RW GSA-H31N

[qanda]This thread is about the LG GSA-H31N. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hello,
I was following another post on her regarding flashing my H31N with a different flash. I wanted to be able to record on different media. Anyway, I made a mistake and flashed it with H22N instead of H30N. Now the drive is not recognized at all. How can I flash the H30N firmware or even the original H31N formware? THank you in advance. I hope that my drive isnt fried…

Moved your thread to the LG forum, where you should get more informed replies.

If you cant see the drive in the bios, then i don’t think there is much hope.
I know that when the drive is detected in the bios (should have something that in the end says boot) you can flash it again.

I cannot see it in the bios. But, isnt there a way to flash it with the correct firmware?

I dont know any way to flash a drive that is not detected in the bios, sorry.

Try to get the drive into safe mode:

  • switch off your pc
  • press the drive’s eject button and keep it pressed
  • switch on the pc
  • wait 10 seconds
  • release the eject button
In case the drive is detected now, it can be reflashed. In case your last flash of a PATA firmware to a SATA drive updated the firmware boot code, the drive is dead.
