First Timer considering flashing Asus E616

Hey all! I’m considering flashing my Asus E616 DVD rom drive to make it region free. I know about the two button trick on the front, but I have DVDs from a lot of regions and I don’t really want to do that every few times I restart my computer.

What I’m wondering, is why there is a Hardware A and a Hardware B download for the Asus E616 here. Is this as significant as it looks, and if so, how do I tell which hardware my drive is?

Find it out by the firmware version which is on the drive… and the Discinfo output.
