I am new to the whole backup of copy protection. Normally, I would just download the No CD patches to play my back ups, but I decided it would be much better to make an actual working backup.
Now, my first endeavor is trying to backup Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 and I've been working at it for days, with no success. First off, I should say that I have tried Clony(various versions up to and including Clony XXL 2)/CloneCD, Alcoholer/Alcohol 120%, CD Mate (although I could not find an option for burning with the SafDisc v2.8 that NFS HP2 obviously uses, as I have scoured around and found out the exact version)
I want to try using DiscDump/Fireburner as suggested in another forum for this game, but I cant get a good link to the DiscDump Frontend and I am not quite comfortable enough to tackle the command line yet.
I have also tried emulating SafeDisc with Virtual Daemon Manager V3.33 and when I loaded the ISO, I still get the 'Insert Proper CD' message. It is driving me bonkers, but I am determined to keep trying until I succeed or somebody proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it simply cannot be done with my current equipment. I have a Philips CDRW2412A, btw, so any configuration options for this drive to make future endeavors go more smoothly would be greatly appreciated. I don't know anything about what sheep is or whether my drive is 1 sheep or 2 sheep, just seen it on the forums. Wanted to test it with that elby.ch link, but it appears that link is not working either.
Sorry about the lengthy post, but as I said, I am a complete newbie to the copy protection scheme and have a lot to ask. More so than I could ever expect to achieve with just one post. Thank you to anyone who tries to help, as I am at the end of my rope...heheh. Take care.
