Firmware update for LITEON/DH20A4P-04 20X

Hello,

I am in the noob forum because I don’t know how to drill down all the sub forums.

Please say if this drive manufactured in Feb of this year needs any firmware tweaks.

The drive is running fine. If that’s the case should I run as is and not do anything?

here is a link to official firmware 9P59

here is a link to quality patched firmware 9P59

here is the thread explaining the patched firmware

here is the settings utility

If the drive is running fine for you for now, then you probably don’t need to do anything for it; just keep doing what you’re doing. :iagree:

In various software applications, the firmware version may be displayed. If the drive was manufactured this year, the firmware name will be 9P5x, where “x” is some number or letter. If you run Nero CD-DVD Speed or Nero DiscSpeed [basically the same thing], it will show you the drive model + the firmware version. Example, from this link, you see that the drive is an Optiarc AD-7203S, with firmware version 1.06.

Thanks for the help.

After reading about the overburning I would stick to the plain vanilla LiteOn FW since I burn at the lowest rates I see on the prompt.

Any news on a DVDFab Platinum 5.0.9.0?

ok.
ok.
is there any notification system for new firmwares such as 9P6x ?

If there was any new firmware, it would still be 9P5x…where x would be something between A and Z. I’d assume it would be 9P5A or something like that. If they reached 9P5Z and had to release another firmware, then it would turn into 9P6x.

You could subscribe to this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/post-new-firmware-tool-announcements-here-148989/index10.html#post2122596

Just be aware that you would get an e-mail every time someone posts in the thread, and that the thread is for ALL LiteOn drives, not just the DH20A4P.

If you want to subscribe to that thread, click this link: http://club.cdfreaks.com/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&t=148989

I subbed to the announce and will see how it goes.

thanks again.
