Firmware Update for Buslink

I purchased a cheap Buslink Internal ATAPI 52x24x52 CD-RW. I am looking to upgrade the firmware. The Technical Rep. at Buslink first directed me to Lite-on for the firmware update. That did not look right. After further discussions with him he directed me to A-Open. I downloaded their firmware update and tried to run it. However, when I try to run it I get a message saying “ASPI manager not found.” What am I doing wrong?

Running Nero InfoTools I get:

Many of the links are probably now dead.

Thank you for the help.

I want to thank everyone that helped me. I hope in the future I will be able to return the favor.

I had access to a computer running Windows ME and I created a Windows ME MSDOS boot disk. I extracted the files from “AOpen5224_1[1].06_for_OEM.ZIP” to another floppy. I then took what was probably an unnecessary step but I accessed the BIOS setup on my computer and disabled both the hard drive and the other CDROM that came with the computer. I then booted the computer using the boot floppy I created. I then ran the firmware utility from the other floppy I made and installed Rev. 1.06 successfully. I then restored the BIOS settings and booted the computer. It found new hardware namely, AOpen CD-RW CRW5224. After that I was able to update the firmware to Rev. 1.08 using the AOpen Windows firmware utility.

I have noticed two things. The fastest Read Speed is 40X whereas before I updated the firmware it was 52X and Nero no longer includes Just Link and Just Right options nor does it reference Just Link when I burn a CDR.
