Firmware Question: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N RC04

Howdy ya’ll

Got a quick question, I hate flashing hardware because if you do it wrong you just bricked you item. I have a HP G60 Notebook that runs Vista Home (SP2) and uses the following drive as my burner:

Optical Devices
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N RC04 010424080594KA1640 (SATA150, DVD±RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache)

To me the firmware rev # is RC 04 can I upgrade it to the Lenovo FW: RY05 that came out on 30th January, 2009 or will this not work?

I guess I am asking what is the newest version of the firmware that I can get for my drive.

The HP site has RC04 as the latest. I found one from Lenovo but the download i got from Firmware HQ won’t install the Firmware.

flashing a Lenovo OEM firmware onto a device with HP OEM firmware won’t work without application of “brute force”. Additionally, the Lenovo OEM firmware must not necessarily be better than the HP OEM firmware you have at the moment.
And of course you’d void your warranty in case you crossflash your drive.
