I just installed Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning program, and it hangs when i hit "Create Disk" button. Roxio suggests updating the firmware for my DVD drive. I went into the Device Manager (I have Vista running on a Gateway computer) and it lists the DVD drive as "Atapi DVD W DH16W1P ATA Device." I googled this and the hits seemed to indicate this was a Lite On drive. I went to Lite on's web site but this model does not come up. I spoke to a Gateway tech and he said that this is a 16x double-layer multi-format DVD drive made by Philips. i asked for the model number and he said the part number was 5508821R. I asked if this is the number Philips would refer to and he said "yes." I went to the Philips web site and none of these model or parts numbers matched anything on their site. in fact, the model numbers on Philips products are so far off I started to wonder if this is really a Philips drive? Downloaded Nero info Tool from the Philips web site and it says the firmware version is LG12, from October 2, 2006. I went to Lite On's web site, and although the model numbers at least start with "DH," none of the listed model numbers match my unit. I even went to LG's site since the firmware version starts with LG (yes, I am that desparate!!), but no-go. Can anyone please tell me the maker of this DVD and send a link to update the firmware. Trying to make a slideshow DVD for my wife's birthday, which is tomorrow, and I'm quickly running out of time. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
