This DVD burner was salvaged from a PVR, nero reports it will only r/w -R/-RW. I can’t find any info on this drive, Pioneer doesn’t list this model on their sight, it has f/w 1.31, i’m hoping it can be upgraded somewhat with flash, any info will be greatly appriciaterd.

Please use DVRFlash in verbose mode to see lots of information about the drive.

You could just use this command “DVRFlash -v”

dvrflash returns :
Device : F:
Vendor : PIONEER
Model : DVD-RW DVR-77H
Revision : 1.31

i’d like to know if this drive’s hardware is the same as another model, certainly it must be, i doubt they built this drive to only be installed in PVR’s ? It works ok in my pc, except it only reads and writes to -R, at 4x, only.

Going by the “DVR generation - 0004”, it should be a DVR-105. Here’s an example. Does it have similar specs to the DVR-105?

DVRFlash doesn’t support the drive, so flashing won’t be possible. Hmmm.
