I purchased this drive from NewEgg about a month ago and like my other Pioneer burners this one works great. It game with ver. 1.04 firmware and is identified in Vista as Pioneer BD-RW. I see Pioneer has released ver. 1.08 but even following the links here my drive is nor recognized by the flasher. Is there a way to update this drive.

Thanks.

I suggest you DO NOT UPDATE to 1.08 !! I had 1.03 and it worked fine- thought 1.08 would improve quality of burns on cheaper media. Well, the upgrade process appeared to work fine BUT now my burn rate is 0.7x on Verbatim 4x when it used to be 8x! Not a typo, zero point seven x, that is over two hours for 25 GB BD-R, even slower on BD-RE (over three hours). And besides that, the scan quality got much worse. Looks like my burner is basically useless now- I’m very upset about this; wrote to Pioneer, we’ll see if they say anything. And of course, I can’t re-flash to an earlier version, for “technical reasons”? Just great.

Have you tried re-installing the drive?
Is it internally connected?
Which controller is it on?
