These models are fickle. Make sure you have copies of the EEPROM and firmware Asus 22B2S b
Crossflash I recommend to use the IDE controller and 32bit system.

LiteOn iHAP 122 W firmware LL06 bin.

The latest version of each tool should be used.

backup EEPROM: EEPROM Utility V6.2.0 SE: http://club.myce.com/f44/eeprom-utility-plds-liteon-sony-cd-dvd-writers-v6-2-0-se-112103/ (direct link: http://downloads.ultrafastcdn.com/DVDRW_FW_LITEON/codeguystools/EEPROM_Utility_SE-6.2.0.rar)

backup firmware: Flash Utility v7.2.0: http://club.myce.com/f44/flash-utility-plds-liteon-based-optical-drives-v7-2-0-a-190420/ (direct link: http://downloads.ultrafastcdn.com/DVDRW_FW_LITEON/codeguystools/Flash_Utility-7.2.0.rar)

After you backup the EEPROM and backup the firmware, flash the new firmware with the Flash Utility.

EDIT: listen to czary2mary1:

If an error pops the flash does not turn off the power to the computer or drive.
Upload instantly copies firmare and Eeprom Asus

So if there is an error when flashing, leave the computer on. Do not do anything. Upload the firmware and the EEPROM, maybe to a site like ZippyShare, and post the links here.

Hello, I have the following DVD:

my firmware attached in this post in zip file (readed with flash utilitty 7.2.0)

I want flash firmware to will be able change booktype

I tried to install the firmware from the LiteOn iHAP122 W with "flash utilitty 7.2.0"
My OS is Windows 7 (64bit)
But after installing this firmware, DVD began to flash every 2 seconds (I realized firmware failed). I reboot PC (not power off), windows automatically install the drivers for the new device, but dvd resume flashing and can’t to read any discs.
I restore my firmware 1.03 and DVD worked fine again.

Therefore, my question is:
what firmware is suitable for my DVD so that I can change BookType?

1.03.zip (571 KB)

I moved your post to this thread, since it’s all related.

When you flashed with the LiteOn firmware, the light started blinking. You rebooted. After this, did the LiteOn say it was on firmware 0L06, or did it say it was running LL06?

If the firmware version was “LL06” before you flashed back to ASUS, the firmware may have flashed correctly, but there may be a second step. (See czary2mary1’s post below).

If the firmware version was “0L06” (or some other 0L0x), then the flash did fail & a different set of steps must be taken.

How flashing LED is not done to convert EEPROM in accordance with the model LiteOn iHAP 122 in the EEPROM Utility V6.2.0 SE.

Instructions for the change checksums - the same for all the operations that Asus DRW-22B2S b
Crossflash Asus DRW-22B2S (DH22A9) for Plextor PX-870A
