Verbatim DVD-R 8x MCC02RG20 (printable)

I have no idea why the error rate is getting so high to the end of the disc… :Z
Why drops the quality from disk to disk and firmware to firmware im confused

Another useless try in burning (RiData v2.0) RiTEK G04 @8X @G06, even though the disk is readable, no problems accessing any portion of it.

That does it. Liteon is waging war on it’s customers, with every firmware upgrade. I’m buying an NEC!

Patched for _51S@832 already? Thanks guys! I’ll do some read tests tomorrow.

Im not sure but i’m a little angry my first MCC02RG20 i burned with VS04 was very good and from vs04 to vs08 the quality dropped a little and now with vs0A i have at the end of the disc such a huge amount of PI fails with unpatched stock “better” firmware ?

I forgot to ask if there is a way to downflash the stockfirmware ?!

so if i’m just using ricohjnpr01 most of the time (and maybe the new 8x ridata dvd+r from newegg)–i dont really need to go from VS08 to VS0A 451s@832s correct? TIA

Update to VS0A

First burn is MCC003@8X

Others are having problems, but my burns suggest there hasn’t been any change in the MCC003 strategy, so it must me media related.

Real Sony DRU-700A --> crosspatched to stock Liteon 832S VS0A firmware.

MCC003 burnt at 8X (Singapore media - real Mitsubishi DVD+R)

Yet another iteration of firmware and STILL Liteon can’t get the write strategy correct for RITEKG05

Partial KProbe scan, the 4X write range is still all wrong.

Again DRU-700A crossflashed to 832S

CMC MAG.E01 burnt at 8X on above drive

This is how a healthy 832 drive burns this media, which I suspect has improved since it’s original release (improved greatly)!

they made this firmware the same day as US0Q, but before it.
so, liteon make 832s firmwares before 812s:

812s timestamp: 2004/07/16 21:59
832s timestamp: 2004/07/16 21:17

difference in media are that 832 has 3 more media R9 media.

Same drive as above.

This time CMC MAG.AE1 DVD-R burnt at 8X

Again significant improvement in this media noted.

Not just the same day, but within the same hour. That’s because US0Q and VS0A are the same firmware. LiteOn compiles VS0A, then fiddles with the compiler and tell it to not compile in the DL stuff, compile again, and voila, US0Q. Two birds with one stone. In the past, the development of the 812S/832S firmwares have been somewhat separate. But now, according to sources, they have ceased development of the 812S firmware and all of their new 812S firmwares starting from US0P are just modified versions of their 832S firmware.

The same is true for the 451S/851S firmwares. GSB9 was made just half an hour after GS0K, and they two are identical except for a name-change and for GSB9 having 8x +R disabled.

So how is this shaping against VS08. What do we think, as I am holding off untill I hear your views

Can I use this on my 812s…

VS0A - patched - 451S@832S, 851S@832S

Read this page carefully:

Here is a scan of one disc that I did yesterday and today with the different firmwares on my 451S @ 832S:

A slight improvement.
