Feurio!/Lame-version

Is there any difference between Lame 3.92 and 393.1 for working with Feurio!?

Mine’s 3.92 and I didn’t even bother to change it, since " if it ain’t broken…".

We’ll see what we can learn from the other opinions.

Why would there be any difference? I guess the only difference is how LAME encodes…
It is said that 3.92 is better than 3.93, so that’s what I use, but you won’t notice any difference except for the quality of encoding (very very difficult to hear).

i heard that some 3.93 versions are buggie…i use older ones

read here more about it
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/

I myself use this one;
lame3.90.2-modified_dll-ICL

Does that modified DLL have any advantage over the regular DLL?

it has some fixes…

if you go to the forum (the link i gave you) you can read all about it…
it is the one the audio freaks use with feurio and eac…

the normal one 3.91 and 3.90 are ok also

you should stay away from 3.92 if i remember correctly

That’s nonsense ! Perhaps you meant v.3.93 ?

3.92 works fine.

i will check that…that is why i said “if i remember correctly”

but you guys read so damn fast

ok

this is what is said about the one i suggested;

use 3.90.2. It has received very intensive quality testing (as opposed to 3.93 / 3.93.1), and it’s really fast

the quote is from the experts of the hydrogen forums…3.93 seem to be buggy or not as good as the previous versions.

now tracking down the 3.92 part

ok…3.91 was a final version and 3.92 was an alpha release…that is why people suggest to go for 3.91

What is the difference between alfa and final then ? Or in this case, alfa and beta ?

alpha is written different then final…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Lame 3.93 is buggy if you compare it to version 3.92. Thats why the people of the lame project released 3.93.1 (check http://www.mp3dev.org )

I use 3.93.1 works great;)

as far as i know, the difference between alpha and beta builds for software are:
alpha = meant for internal testing only
beta = meant for public testing (one step after alpha)

final should be self-explanatory.

Just try all and use the one that’s suites you best.

And that statement should be final and not alpha or beta. :stuck_out_tongue: /gs

ROTFL ! That’s real funny !

Now, joking aside >

ALPHA
The first testing stage of a new program. The alpha stage occurs before a program becomes a beta version.

BETA
The second stage a software program goes through before a final is released.
Software undergoes rigorous testing until it is ready to be released.

You are so right, working in a product development part of the world I also know that alpha & beta are followed by gamma and delta versions (doesn´t need to be software there are also other products that are in need of dev)if the constructors don´t know how to behave.
 /gs

what i read/know about the lame codec is that the suggested version is 3.90.x because this version is tested very wel with alll kind of settings (incl alt preset extreme)

other versions afther can be used (and work wel for most people)…but no garanties about settings
