Prompted by a thread in the NEC forum, I decided to try a 22x read (something I haven't done before), using patched firmware. Seems the read data rate above 20x is not supported by this chipset. Perhaps the 24x chipset could see 22x reached...

If you come up with a patch for the 24x chipset I am will to try it.
Thanks. I do have some patches ready for the 24x drives (including faster read) but I'm reluctant to release them until I'm sure they are completely safe.
